Blackmail
By Bob McElwain - Foremost Press, Inc.

"You're spun into the grip of a fast-paced novel..." ebook-reviews.net - August 25th, 2005
Submitted by: Foremost_Press (see profile)

When Bob dedicates a note to the reader at the beginning of his book, "I hope you enjoy reading this tale as much as I enjoyed writing it," he isn't kidding! Sheer exuberance accompanies his narrative all the way through the book from the very beginning.

From the moment Terri Delaney …"litheness, draped in a rich creaminess"… turns up on Jack Collier's doorstep, revealing that a night of indiscretion has led to years of blackmail, you're spun into the grip of a fast-paced novel, with twists and turns that will make you wonder if Jack will ever succeed in discovering just who is blackmailing Terri.

But Jack is nimble, and Jack is quick! Although he might appear nonchalant in his dealings with the sleazes he meets along the way, he's far from a sluggard when it comes to gathering leads.

I hope that Jack Collier, resplendent in his role of laid-back investigator/New Age man, will get involved in a future escapade, so that his readers will have another chance to be highly entertained!

Killer Asylum
By David R. Williams - Foremost Press, Inc.

"Killer Asylum should be a movie..." Rachel Rothman, Producer - August 25th, 2005
Submitted by: Foremost_Press (see profile)

Courtesy of my pal Ethan, (no writing slouch himself) I read your book. Killer Asylum is one in a hundred books I've picked up over the last I don't know how long but the ONE AND ONLY book I didn't put down until I was finished reading the last page. As a producer, reading for pleasure has become something of a distant memory, reserved for vacations or for other lucky people. I love the irony that I read something for pleasure and it has to be turned into something for work.

Killer Asylum should be a movie and if I can't turn it into one I'll eat my hat. I have partnered with a producer named Darby Parker on another project and he has really made a science out of getting thrillers set-up and sold. Together, with Ethan, we would love to work out a deal with you.

Hollywood is a scary place, almost as scary as the dark recess of Soren Cabal's mind. When I become passionate over material like your book, I'm comforted that I am not totally insane for staying in this business. For the chance to get this one across the finish line, it's worth the madness.

On Eagle's Wings
By Rebecca Goings - Champagne Books

The Romance Studio: If I could I would give it ten hearts! - August 24th, 2005
Submitted by: RebeccaGoings (see profile)

Louise Riveiro-Mitchell from The Romance Studio says:

Shannon Phillips was on her way to her grandfather's cabin. Though she had been warned at Ft. Laramie that she would be traveling in Indian territory, she still insisted on going on. Her driver is a questionable character. Otis Pratt watched Shannon as she scanned the landscape in search of Indians, his gaze was more on her than anything else. Not far from the fort Otis stopped the wagon and felt it was time he got paid for his services and he wasn't thinking of money. As he proceeds to rip her dress, Shannon fights for a chance to be free and see then sees a lone Indian on the cliff. Pratt follows her gaze and grabs his gun as the Indian begins down the slope.

Before she knew what was happening Shannon tries to stop Pratt from shooting the Indian and he proceeds to punch her, knocking her out. She kept drifting in and out of consciences when she notices the Indian touching her cheek and speaking in his language to her. He takes her in his arms and together they are riding. Still dazed, Shannon only knew she felt safe in this man's arms.

Adam Eagles Wing had come to this time through a portal that he had invented. A man from the future had come back to the 1800's to see how his ancestors had lived back then. He had done this before and seen other eras in history and he sent others back. The one rule was they are never to change anything for it would effect the future. By saving Shannon from being raped by Pratt, Adam had altered history. His problem now is that he had to rectify what he had changed. Shannon was to have been raped that day and nine months later would have a son and so on...

How was he to tell this woman that he was from the future and more over how was he to tell her she's supposed to have a child without being married?

Shannon has no reason to not believe him but still a man from the future? Somehow this woman from the past and the man from the future find that they are soul mates separated by time and soon Adam must go back to his time and leave the woman he has fallen in love with. Will he be able to leave this woman who has captured his heart?

From the first page the reader is captured by these two people and wants to see this romance last. We read their trek to her grandfather's cabin and find the passion that they both share along this journey. We want them to stay together and find happiness in whatever time they chose. Sensual and romantic is this story and if I could I would give it ten hearts. Loved it!!!!

Finding Lilies
By Kelly Clark Baugher - DLSIJ Press

Chosen as a Recommended Read by Lil Cinny - August 23rd, 2005
Submitted by: romancelover (see profile)

Lil Cinny honored FINDING LILIES when she chose it as one of her "Recommended Reads." Below is the review, also available on her website--www.lilcinny.com

My Thoughts:
In Finding Lilies, you can feel the love Jackson and Blake have for each other is strong, but your heart breaks for both of them when it seems as though that love isn't enough to keep them together. Jackson and Blake are characters that stay with you long after you finish the book. The plot is complex and the characters are solid. Kelly Clark Baugher takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride with this heart wrenching story. I look forward to reading more stories by Ms. Baugher.

Sons of Gemen

5 Moons from Mystique Books! - August 23rd, 2005
Submitted by: LTDBooks (see profile)

5 Moons from Mystique Books!
"I was hooked from page one. One word best describes this story: stunning. SONS OF GEMEN is Speculative Fiction at its best. Not a romance in the traditional sense, the reader is drawn down varying emotional paths, all equally complex and fascinating. Forbidden Love. Soul Mates. Love Unrequited. Self-Sacrificing Love. I read, I raged and wept, swept along the book's two timelines.

"I feel that SONS OF GEMEN can rival Tolkien’s Two Towers, with world building on a mega-scale, a complex plot, and a mesmerizing story that could possibly eclipse the first book.

"I eagerly await the yet unpublished final chapter of the Shadrani. Should you pick up SONS OF GEMEN, or book one of the series, PRINCE OF GEMEN, you too will find yourself drawn into an awe-inspiring journey of not only people, but also of souls. Highly, highly recommended."

4 Knives from The Romance Reader's Connection! - August 23rd, 2005
Submitted by: LTDBooks (see profile)

4 Knives from The Romance Reader's Connection!
"Dallas has a strange book; it has no title and no author. The only thing he knows about it is that it was once his father’s. The story, a fantasy about two warring peoples, is one that he’s read many times. Reading the book is the only real comfort he has until Hans moves in across the hall. A painter, Hans asks Dallas to pose for him. Like so many others, Hans has an ulterior motive.

"The narrative alternates, chapter by chapter, between the two stories. The transitions are made skillfully and do not interrupt the flow of the stories. Little by little, it becomes apparent that the stories overlap. All of the characters are complex and realistic. Dallas is quite believable as a teenager in our near future; Calli, Erone, and their contemporaries also display depth and realism. Obviously, given the setup, there are many same-sex relationships throughout this novel. Readers who are uncomfortable with this may want to steer clear. For the rest of us, this is a unique and very entertaining fantasy novel. I’m looking forward to more from this very talented author."

I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other, they were vibrant and realistic. You felt for Julia and Rand as things got more and more complicated for them. Her perfect blend of historical romance with a slight touch of eroticism was a breath of fresh air. I loved the way she made this entire book come together. I would most definitely read more by this author."

4 Hearts from Love Romances!
"Ms. Marshall has done it again. SMUGGLER'S BRIDE is a pure literary delight. A rollicking tale set at a time when things were heating up between the fledgling colonies and England, it delivers a wild ride full of action and mayhem. The characters, Julia and Rand, are multidimensional as well as deeply moving. The interplay between them is captivating and written with a sense of aerobic wit and mystery as these two strong willed personalities tangle in and out of the sheets. Marvelously funny, sexy, and entertaining, the characters from PIRATE'S PRICE are also back…a little older but still entertaining to the reader, and their antics will make the reader sit up and take notice. This reviewer was thrilled to read the further antics of this wonderful family of pirates and aristocrats. Ms. Marshall writes a mesmerizing tale that will set readers on their ear and make them want to read it over and over again. SMUGGLER'S BRIDE is a wonderful addition to any library. This reviewer is looking forward to the third in the series. Kudos to Ms. Marshall for creating a literary gem!"

Last Dance of the Lochkray
By Brian M. H. Goodwin - LTDBooks

5 Cups from Coffee Time Romance! - August 23rd, 2005
Submitted by: LTDBooks (see profile)

5 Cups from Coffee Time Romance!
"For five hundred years the Lochkray have existed, slinking through the night, their nocturnal wanderings punctuated by occasional feedings. Waiting for the day of their ultimate triumph over all humanity. Although they know not where the sacred place is to be found, they know a human will lead them to their cathedral of renewal. For now they enjoy the hunt, sliding through human minds, playing with their memories.

"Dr. John Hadden, PhD of Archaeology, believes the wilds of northern Canada hold the keys to the greatest archaeological site found in modern history. When he hikes into the Canadian bush and disappears, his assistants are sent into the wilds to find him. What they encounter deep in the Canadian forest will test their faith, perception, and strength, the very attributes the Lochkray feed off of. When they meet a man on sojourn from an eastern European monastery, his stories of the Cimmerian Knights fill them with dread and disbelief, until they start experiencing things on their own.

"Figuring out the clues left by the professor will test their resolve. Coming out alive will be their reward.

"Mr. Brian Goodwin has penned an enthralling story that grabbed me from the first paragraph and would not let me go until I finished it. The storyline is paced in such a way that I was, at times, scared to read another word but at the same time unable to quit. I absolutely loved this book."

"It's a race against time and a battle of wits to determine who will survive the trip.

"This is a unique take on the usual vampire legend; and also a very exciting monster-in-the-woods tale. Although the situation of the party being stalked may seem familiar, this author has a wonderful way of surprising the reader with unexpected twists. The descriptive passages, many from the unusual perspective of the Lochkray, are evocative and very effective, adding greatly to the overall feel of the novel without slowing the story in any way. There are some genuinely frightening scenes here, and I’m looking forward to much more from this author."

A Taste of Honey
By P.G. Forte - SynergEbooks

an excellent storyline which, over time, knitted together perfectly - August 23rd, 2005
Submitted by: euology (see profile)

Dan Cavanaugh has been keeping a secret away from Lucy, his beautiful and feisty wife, but, unfortunately for him, it has come back to haunt him. Deirdre Shelton-Cooper has run away from her home in Berkeley to find her father, Dan. The thing is, Dan is convinced she is not his daughter. Deirdre could be the product of the relationship between him and a former girlfriend, Paige. But Paige is now dead, tragically murdered, and her last attack on Dan was to inform him that Deirdre was his daughter. When Seth, Dan’s son meets up with ‘Monica’ aka Deirdre the situation becomes even worse.

Lucy and Dan Cavanaugh have, on the outside, a perfect marriage. They possess two children, a wonderful sex life and a growing business; things that most people would envy. But a chain of events occur that could spell disaster to their ideal world. The question is: can their marriage survive?

A Taste of Honey was a joy to read and it had me hooked right from the start. It had an excellent storyline which, over time, knitted together perfectly. Everything that you read had a purpose; nothing was surplus to requirements. This is a novel which is part of an ongoing series but it does well on its own. One thing, though, I wish I’d read more of the series beforehand. Not because, I felt this novel needed that to be understood. Far from it! It’s because, now that I’ve read A Taste of Honey, I’ve missed out on so much by not reading the first initial books.

There was something I read within A Taste of Honey that was familiar to me and it didn’t take me long to figure out where I’d seen it before. But I won’t spoil that little surprise for you! See if you can work it out.

I loved this novel so much that I hope I get the chance to read new additions to the series. It’s by far one of the best works of fiction I’ve read in a long time.

Barbarians in the Republic - The Long Journey to Rome
By Skarr One - Skarr One

Powerful adventure rich with description, sex and action. - August 23rd, 2005
Submitted by: euology (see profile)

Vaten. Kidnapped as a boy by a powerful barbarian chief, he develops into a strong, powerful man. Stronger than anyone could imagine, his only physical flaw is the one way in which he can be killed. As the adopted son of a barbarian chief, his status as a stable boy now prevents him from marrying his lover, Adriane.

Adriane. A beautiful, barbarian princess. Vaten’s lover and the new wife of Marcus Trebonius Drusus, she thinks nothing of scratching or displaying herself in public to the chagrin of her husband. Young, naďve and possibly vulnerable she is a highly sexed woman which earns her the title of whore within the ranks of Romans. Soon, though, she earns their respect with her, almost, boyish manners.

Marcus Trebonius Drusus. A Roman Knight. Involved in a loveless marriage to Adriane but resentful of the time she spends with her lover, Vaten. Marcus has numerous worries regarding his wife, her lover and the overall acceptance of their behaviours by his own family and peers.

Three lives linked together through necessity and love combines to give a powerful adventure rich with description, sex and action. This novel is intense and is not for the faint-hearted, but it’s a fascinating read. The reader is taken deep into the existences of these communities, learning about new and different cultures. The work that has gone into producing this masterpiece is remarkable and has made this novel one of the best to arrive on the market yet. Check out the author’s website for when this book finally hits the bookstores.

A Pleasant Read - August 23rd, 2005
Submitted by: JonB1969 (see profile)

written by Jean for Fallen Angel Reviews

Veronica is a beautiful, educated, smart, and loving black woman who has had major man problems. Her current boyfriend, Kevon, is a user who thinks too much of himself, and takes Veronica for granted. She has decided to break up with Kevon, and does so just in time to meet and be attracted to Bryan, a white man. He is a junior architect who is unsatisfied in his job, and his love life. After a couple of false starts, Veronica and Bryan hit it off and begin to date. Will their relationship survive society’s racial prejudices?

I really liked this story. The two main characters are interesting and just plain nice people, and the reader gets to know them very well. The author has used an unusual style in this novel – the story is told by alternating chapters in the first person by the two main characters. A first person viewpoint enhances the intimate feeling of a narrative – the reader knows what the protagonists think and feel because she is hearing it from the characters’ own mouths. There are very sensual and moderately explicit love scenes in this story, but they are truly that – love scenes between two people who have deep feelings for each other. As a reader, I find that emotionally fulfilling. There is not a lot of suspense in this story, but that didn’t matter to me. I enjoyed following along and watching Veronica and Bryan as they discovered each other and grew closer, both emotionally and physically. I heartily recommend this novel as a pleasant read when you want to feel good about life.

Lethal Wind
By Bob McElwain - Foremost Press, Inc.

"Mix in boldly drawn characters you'd love to meet, and you have a must-read story." Foremost Press - August 22nd, 2005
Submitted by: Foremost_Press (see profile)

A native of Los Angeles, California, McElwain uses this setting for this tale of drugs, mayhem, and murder. All begins with an accidental sighting of a raft well out in the Pacific off Marina Del Rey. Scott Macklen is the fellow who spots the raft. And the one who dives with a knife to confirm his suspicions. The cargo is coke.

Scott urges the raft be cut free, that they get well away from it quickly. Others overrule him, and the raft is landed inside the marina. While some thrive in the news spotlight, Scott sees only trouble.

Unfortunately for those who towed the raft in, the cargo belonged to Harry Boggs, the man in cocaine in the San Fernando Valley. Enraged at having lost a ten million dollar investment, he orders the death of all involved.

To survive, Scott must beat a major drug dealer with 200 million bucks available. While seemingly impossible, Scott plans to attack and destroy this drug empire in parts. If he can trigger the paranoia that is so much a part of Boggs, and thus cause him to act illegally in total rage, authorities watching will end Boggs' career abruptly.

With a select group of talented people, Scott begins. But even as Boggs' losses mount up, there is no indication he will act foolishly. Scott has no hope but to continue with the plan, even as it appears to be failing.

While McElwain never wastes words, he may have errored in this story by including too many individual actions. In each, what Scott does is reasonable, and all is done to minimize risk. However, to succeed in such a long list of such activities brings an unrealistic supermanish flavor to the character of Scott Macklen.

Still, if you enjoy a tautly drafted tale that moves quickly, you'll enjoy this one. Mix in boldly drawn characters you'd love to meet, and you have a must-read story you'll find difficult to lay aside until you have read the last word on the last page.

"The entertaining social angst of narrator Cathy provides lots of laughs, amid some real food for thought about the pitfalls of pretending about

The humor is balanced with Ann Herrick's insight into the universal and realistic intensity of the characters' emotions."

A Truly Wonderful Story - August 22nd, 2005
Submitted by: JonB1969 (see profile)

written by Tewanda of Fallen Angel Reviews

Veronica knows that her current boyfriend, Kevon has got to go. He always puts himself and his pleasure before her. Veronica decides to broaden her dating horizons. While at work, she meets Bryan. Bryan is everything Veronica has been looking for in a man – he is cute, sexy, sweet, and funny and really seems to like her. There is one thing different about Bryan, though, he is white. A series of misunderstandings almost keep Bryan and Veronica from connecting, but Veronica is determined to get her man. The more time they spend together, the more she falls in love.

Bryan is used to women turning him down. They all see him as the loveable, cute friend. When he meets Veronica he wants all that to change. But it does not look like it will when Veronica refuses to have dinner with him. Much to his surprise, Veronica begins to pursue him. The difference in their cultures does not seem to be a major stumbling block between them – but what about their family and friends?

Colorblind is a truly wonderful story. Bryan and Veronica demonstrate and prove the old adage of love overcoming all obstacles. They each face personal struggles in their attempt to be together. The sexual chemistry between Veronica and Bryan is balanced by their struggle to create a true and lasting relationship. Mr. Bradbury has created such memorable characters that I hated for the story to end.
